  Abstract

Optical Camera Communication (OCC) is a wireless communication technology that utilizes cameras embedded in smartphones, IoT devices, and surveillance systems to analyze modulated light emitted from LEDs and receive data through image processing. Unlike conventional RF-based communication, OCC offers enhanced security and cost-effectiveness due to its immunity to electromagnetic interference and compatibility with existing lighting infrastructure. However, the presence of ambient and natural light interference, along with inherent camera noise, often degrades signal accuracy and system performance. To address these challenges, various filtering techniques and camera enhancement methods have been proposed. In this study, we propose a method that relies solely on a smartphone camera to mitigate camera-induced noise using signal filtering techniques and to accurately estimate signal frequency, thereby minimizing the impact of ambient light interference. The proposed approach aims to improve the robustness and reliability of OCC systems in real-world environments.
