Distance Measurement of Target using LASER Pointer on the Stereo Vision System

  Abstract

In this paper, we proposed the method of designating the target using the LASER as a way to designate the target in an input image, and then measuring the distance to the designated target, using stereo vision system. Except the target specially defined, it is very difficult to automatically identify the target from the image captured. Existing methods of designating target mainly use the method of defining it through the image captured using window technique. But this paper presents to designate the target using the features of LASER. In addition, by applying the adaptation type critical value, given the difference of features of images entered from the left and right camera, this thesis suggests to improve the efficiency of capturing the target despite the changes in brightness. Distance to the target was calculated after obtaining the time difference information on the images of both eyes on the captured target. As a result of experiment, it was found out that it is very effective in identi η ing the location of designated target, using the adaptation type critical value. The error of distance measurement was 2.44(%) in the average by demonstrating the efficiency 이 this system.
