  Abstract

Previously, low-powered MAC protocols have been studied with various technical view point because typical sensor node would be operated under limited energy resource. The previous Receiver-Initiated MAC protocols have a disadvantage of unnecessary energy consumption due to Idle Listening states where sender can not know when the receiver"s beacon will be transmitted. In this paper, we propose a low powered asynchronous Collisionless Receiver Initiated-MAC(CRI-MAC) protocol to address unnecessary Idle Listening power consumption. Moreover, we devised a new prioritization method in order to accomplish contentionless data transmission without minimized collision occurrence before a sender initially transmit to the corresponding receiver, then we get increased throughput via our scheme. The results of CRI-MAC experimentation showed that transmission throughput and energy efficiency are improved comparing with the previous Receiver-Initiative MAC protocols.
