  Abstract

We propose a method of estimating the position of a signal source using an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with an antenna array and analyzed its performance through simulation. The angle of arrival of the signal by using the mounted antenna array is measured while the UAV is flying according to a flight path, and the location is estimated based on the collected arrival angles and the posture and position of UAV. We consider a linear, circular, and planar antenna array for the mounted antenna array. We show that the linear array antenna array that only measures the azimuth angle can effectively estimate three dimensional position of signal source when the UAV flies on a curved path with a change of UAV posture.
