  Abstract

We propose an efficient energy beamforming scheme in a wireless power transfer system with multiple antennas at the transmitter. The random vector quantized (RVQ) feedback, which represents the channel information with a finite number of bits, is exploited at the receiver to help the transmitter obtain the optimal energy beamforming vector that maximizes the transferred energy. The harvested energy is used at the receiver for data transmission as well as feedback of the beamforming information. The expression for the outage probability of data transmission is derived and numerical results are presented to verify the analysis.
