  Abstract

In Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks (IWSNs), typical applications require real-time and reliable communication for timely monitoring and response. For reliable communication for real-time data in the networks, retransmission could not be applied because it causes additional delay. MMSPEED in WSNs increases the reliability for real-time data using multipath routing and redundant data transmission. MMSPEED constructs multiple paths by local decision of relay nodes. Namely, each relay nodes on the paths decides path branch toward multiple neighbor nodes in order to increase the reliability. But, as the paths are branched locally, they could not be aware of each paths. So, the paths have higher possibility of path merging and confliction of each other nearer the destination. Especially, it could not be applied to IWSNs as the networks are proper to be operated on the centralized protocols. Therefore, this paper proposes a controllable multipath routing for real-time data by parallel multiple tracks. The virtual tracks guide each path and keep the independence of each paths. In the tracks, the proposed protocol applied the adaptive branch for energy efficiency depending on the link status with neighbor nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is superior to the existing schemes.
