The CS-DSTLC transmitter performs channel shuffling by finding the optimal shuffling matrix that maximizes the received signal-to-noise ratio among total K shuffling matrices. For the correct de-shuffling at the receiver, the shuffling index can be feed-forwarded from the transmitter or estimated by the k-means clustering algorithm. However, feed-forward and k-means clustering-based de-shuffling methods degrade the data rate due to signaling overhead and shuffling errors, respectively. In this work, considering the signaling overhead and shuffling error rate, a CS-DSTLC system data rate model is designed. The optimal number of shuffling matrices K and de-shuffling methods are then suggested. Simulation results show that the data rate can be maximized using the feed-forward-based method in high-order modulation, yet the k-means clustering-based method achieves a higher data rate in low-order modulation. Also, it is verified that the data rate enhancement can be improved by choosing an optimal K for a given frame length.
