In this paper, we propose a new quadrature amplitude modulation with a square lattice and a circular boundary and investigate its power gain and peak-to-average power ratio using heuristic and analytic methods. The results show that the proposed modulation provides a power gain of 0.2003 dB and a 33% reduction in the peak-to-average power ratio when compared with the conventional square quadrature amplitude modulation.
