  Abstract

In 6G communication systems, millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology is expected to support applications such as UAV communications and aerial networks. Due to severe path loss at mmWave frequencies, beamforming is essential, requiring accurate angle of arrival (AoA) estimation. This paper proposes a modified amplitude comparison monopulse-based AoA estimation method tailored for cross-polarized array antennas in LOS-dominated environments. The proposed method adapts traditional monopulse techniques to accommodate the characteristics of polarization-sensitive systems, ensuring compatibility and improved performance. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to existing methods in terms of estimation accuracy and computational complexity.
