  Abstract

In this work, we introduce a novel beamforming framework for joint communication and radar operations in multi-user, multi-target ISAC systems, leveraging channel covariance information. The objective is to enhance spectral efficiency (SE) while satisfying radar performance requirements. We set radar performance as mean squared error (MSE) of the transmitted beam. By employing spatial channel covariance to approximate ergodic SE, the non-convex optimization problem is transformed into a nonlinear eigenvalue problem (NEPv), which is addressed through power iteration and bisection methods. Numerical simulations demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approach.
