  Abstract

Since Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) can move flexibly and quickly, it has been recently studied to use it as a mobile base station. However, the location of UAV with minimum power consumption should be considered because it operates with the limited fuel or battery. In this paper, we propose the deployment of Multi-UAV for minimizing power consumption when the ground users have varying data rate. We first derive optimization model considering the power consumption relationship between UAV and ground users, and then find the near-optimal position of multi-UAV using the non-hierarchical method. The performance results show that the non-hierarchical method can find more precise positions of multi-UAV as compared with that of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm.
