  Abstract

Research on large language models (LLMs) to efficiently manage building energy has gained significant attention. By utilizing LLMs, even no-experts can management building energy using natural language, and complex building energy modeling can be processed efficiently. This paper analyzes recent research trends in building energy management based on LLMs, including building energy modeling, intelligent building equipment control, building energy analysis and prediction, and user interfaces. Based on this analysis, we examine the limitations of LLM application in building energy management from technical, data-related, and security and reliability perspectives, and propose future research directions to overcome these challenges.
